Dr Bill Glasson will be taking a sabbatical from the Terrace Eye Centre in June and July,with the aim of visiting a number

of world-renowned oncology centres to gain an insight into the most up to date treatments for ocular tumours.

His travels will be taking him to the Ocular Oncology Service in Barcelona and then onto Athens where he is delivering a paper on health service delivery in rural and regional Australia at the International Conference on Health Care Reform.

Dr Glasson is also visiting London for the Oxford Congress Conference   and will be participating in a panel discussion around various oncology issues. Following this he will be in New York visiting the Sloan Kettering Cancer and Ocular Melanoma service looking at new treatments for Metastic Melanoma.

Dr Glasson will then be travelling to Washington to liaise with politicians and representatives in relation to the American medical system and medical insurance  to compare service delivery models with ours given Dr Glasson’s role as director on the Avant Board and a member of the Advisory Council of Cancer Australia. His final stop is in San Francisco to meet with Professor Bertil Dermato who runs the Ocular Oncology Service at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).
