Terrace Eye Centre’s philosophy of providing outreach services to areas of need across Queensland see’s Dr Bill Glasson travelling to Birdsville, Bedourie, and Boulia this week. His main focus this trip is to ensure that all indigenous diabetic patients are assessed and we have a mobile laser to enable him to deliver diabetic laser treatments in their local clinics. Cataracts, Glaucoma and various lid pathologies will also be seen as part of his clinics.

Dr Glasson works closely with the aboriginal liaison officer, a local indigenous lady from Bedourie, Joyce Crombie, who organises the co-ordination and liaison aspects of the trip. This is most important to ensure that all patients don’t miss the opportunity to access these services. All those patients needing surgical services will be brought back to Longreach to be done at our next Longreach surgical days.
