Dr Bill Glasson attended the 2026 International Ocular Oncology Conference held in Rio de Janeiro.

The International meeting is only held every 2 years and due to the Middle East war a lot of registrants were unable to make the make the meeting. There were an extensive array of Ocular Oncology subjects covered with particular emphasis on Retinoblastoma and Melanoma of the eye. The Queensland Ocular Oncology Service is currently involved with an International trial of new treatments for small choroidal melanomas as well as Conjunctival melanomas and Squamous tumours. There was a lot of discussion at this meeting about those trials which Australia leads. It was also an opportunity to meet again with many of our International Colleagues with whom we share eye cancer cases on a regular basis.
