Terrace Eye Centre doctors continue to provide essential eye services to the people of Longreach and surrounds.

Earlier this month a team from the Terrace Eye Centre (TEC), consisting of Drs Sunil Warrier and Matthew Cranstoun, and other support staff, continued to provide Ophthalmology outreach services to the people of Central West Queensland when they returned to Longreach. Since their inception, started by Dr Glasson in 1989 these visits have been designed to limit the burden of travel to the people of Longreach and surrounding areas.

During the 4 days of this trip the Terrace Eye Centre’s visiting surgeons continue to provide comprehensive general and subspecialty ophthalmology care and, were able to perform over 49 cataract procedures as well as intraocular stenting for glaucoma, sutured intraocular lenses, and complex oculoplastic procedures and skin cancer removal. Over 200 patients were reviewed and treated.

As always, the doctors state that their sincere gratitude must go to the staff and members of the Longreach Hospital and the Central West Health Service, whose tireless work also ensures that the service can continue. We look forward to continuing these valuable and collaborative clinics into the future.
