For the first time in over two years, vitreoretinal surgeons from all over Australia gathered in Sydney to discuss complex vitreoretinal techniques. Just some of the highlights were:

• Improvements in 3D visualisation during surgery
• Intra-operative fluorescein angiography
• How to select patients for removal of vitreous floaters
• Insight into problems with patient dissatisfaction after use of Extended Depth of Field lenses in patients with prior macular pathology
• New finer, more delicate laser engraved “Alcon Sharkskin” forceps to allow atraumatic membrane peeling

It is so exciting to see the continued evolution of both techniques and technology to improve outcomes in vitreoretinal surgery.
