Dr Sonia Yuen recently presented on Oculoplastics and Paediatric and Paediatric Eye Conditions.

Dr Sonia Ahn Yuen presented a talk on “What Not to Miss” in Oculoplastics and Paediatric Ophthalmology at the Cura Optometry Education Conference, which was recently held on 20 August at the Hilton Hotel in Brisbane. The focus of the talk was to highlight some of the potentially vision and life threatening eye conditions and to present key signs and symptoms that would help to differentiate these uncommon but dangerous conditions from the more common conditions. The conference was well attended and provided an excellent opportunity to promote awareness of these important eye conditions, particularly amongst children, and thereby improve patient care in our community.

Dr Sonia Ahn Yuen presented a talk on “Paediatric Eye Conditions” at the Paediatric Conference for GP’s on 5 August 2023 at the Grand Chancellor Hotel in Brisbane. The focus of the talk was to highlight some of the important paediatric eye conditions that impact visual development (such as amblyopia and strabismus), as well as potentially life threatening conditions, such as ocular and orbital malignancies (including retinoblastoma and rhabomyosarcoma, respectively). The aim of the talk was to emphasize the critical importance of early screening and intervention for our children, which would ultimately improve visual outcome and potentially save lives.
