Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography (OCT-A)
Terrace Eye Centre is proud to announce the availability of the latest Heidelberg Spectralis OCT angiography system. Released after much anticipation in early 2017, this new technology uses non-invasive optical scanning technology to produce high resolution images of the retinal vasculature. Previously, retinal angiography required the insertion of an intravenous cannula and injection of intravenous dye. For patients with age related macular degeneration and similar conditions, these means that in many cases the intravenous needle is no longer required.
The extremely high resolution of this new technology allows axial and lateral resolution of 3.9 and 5.7 microns respectively. This allows selective visualization of each of the layers of the retina, which was previously not possible.
Active Eye Tracking allows us to re-measure the exact same position in the retina at each subsequent visit, allowing accurate monitoring of your condition over time.
The scanning procedure is entirely painless and only takes less than a minute.
