Dr Matthew Cranstoun and Dr Timothy Beckman recently attended the AONA Queensland Annual conference providing guest lecture presentations to delegates.
AONA (Australian Ophthalmic Nurses’ Association) Queensland is an association providing support to ophthalmic nurse members practising in Queensland to assist with their professional growth and development. Their annual conference provides a forum that promotes the sharing of knowledge and expertise for the advancement of ophthalmic nursing, including associate membership to professionals in the ophthalmic field.
Dr Timothy Beckman represented the Queensland Ocular Oncology Service and provided an update on Ocular Oncology management and outcomes. His presentation focused on the management principles of complex ocular oncology cases. A summary of current clinical trials available for patients were discussed, with an outline of several key national and international trials that continue to be managed by the team at Terrace Eye Centre.
Dr Matthew Cranstoun summarised the presentation and management of upper eyelid pathology. Anatomical, clinical and management considerations as well as outcomes were discussed to provide a detailed overview. The wealth of oculoplastic surgery and orbital specialist experience available to patients at Terrace Eye Centre was evident with his lecture.
Terrace Eye Centre continue to provide educational opportunities for our ophthalmic health care professional colleagues via various forums on a regular basis. All of our consultant ophthalmologists ensure a collaborative approach to eye care is maintained which prioritises the best possible outcomes for our patients. Dr Cranstoun and Dr Beckman’s presentations were very well received and we look forward to further opportunites in the future.
