Dr Mark Donaldson was the visiting speaker for a presentation to Gold Coast ophthalmologists on the topic of new treatments for macular oedema. In a lively meeting with lots of interesting cases and great discussion, the risks versus benefits of a range of treatments for macular oedema were discussed after a brief introduction summarizing the MEAD and Bevordex clinical trials.  There are a number of different treatment options for diabetic macular oedema with a large number of subtleties and factors to consider to individualise the treatment and find the best option for a particular patient so these types of discussions are extremely valuable.
